oh, hello!

oh, hello! fancy meeting you here on our journal!

for the very first journal entry, please allow me to introduce myself! i’d love for you to get to know me a little bit better. i’m brianne ritchie, a madly-in-love wife to my husband, michael, and an obsessed mama to our two (soon-to-be three!) children, everly belle and sawyer james. together, we call omaha home with our crazy sweet boxer lab mix, ollie. that’s the short version, at least.

if you’re up for it, our story together goes a little bit like this… michael and i both attended creighton university. he was very aware who i was. conversely, i had no clue who he was. during my junior year, i moved off campus with a bunch of wonderful girlfriends, unbeknownst to me the boy next door would be my perfect match. we finally met at the end of june 2009. he’d graduated and was moving away from omaha forever, or so he thought. sharing basically every waking moment over the next thirty-seven days, we decided to give long distance a shot. fast forward, we took on the world together. first, in omaha with ollie joining our family in october 2011. in september 2013, we celebrated our marriage in my teeny tiny hometown in ida grove, iowa, in the same church my parents and grandparents and great-grandparents said ‘i do’. we spent the next two years adventuring in boston. in 2015, we accepted jobs in minnesota, bought our first house, and welcomed our daughter. our son arrived two years later on my thirtieth birthday in 2018. however, we’d been on autopilot in minnesota with no reason to stay, so we took a few chances and found our way back to the place we’ve always considered home.

my passion for photography sparked from capturing our children’s lives. they will never know how many times i’ve stared at them in complete wonder. they will never realize how many moments i’ve spent admiring every single thing about them. i had hoped to authentically document the joy they’ve brought into our life. i had intended for them to look through all the images i’ve snapped of them some day and feel my overwhelming love for them. in learning so much about photography, though, i’ve become so inspired to share my gift with others, too. from documenting precious moments to photographing special events, our friends and family have been so encouraging of making this passion project something more. through others, for others – that’s how brianne ritchie photography was born, to capture life + love + laughter for you + yours.
